It had to have been in the late 50's  all of the boats in the Marina were made of Wood....... The attitudes of the people were pretty much the same then........... as now...... however ,  still.........

The poor ass licking the rich ass.......... to gain favor.......  Its tens of thousands of years old........ lick, lick, lick.            (insert canned laughter here)

The tides were drastic.... Gabriel had thought he had properly tied up his little skiff to the piling but.... when it came time to leave...after he had picked up all his work tools spread about in a mess off the dock houses floor  ...  he walked the narrow plank out the dock  with a board missing he had to make a skip, a little jump  while up high as the tide was way out... and he was a bit overweight, it scared him... OH! there it was  at the end of the dock way down there, why his little boat... too far to jump into  even... oh what an idiot......  heavens now he had to back track.... and go around the long way.... and pull the boat in with a line and grapple ...he bumped into the rich man who gave him a can of WD 40.....WOW!  Some Gift... thank you , thank you...........
that was really something in those days.... had you ever heard of it even?  The Space age product... WD 40?  He had a dark blue skippers cap on..  a friendly enough fellow... sort of a Thruston Howell the third type...........
